You will cover Lesson 14 of New Practical Chinese Reader 1, and Lessons 15-18 of New Practical Chinese Reader 2, at the rate of one lesson every fortnight, with material that includes celebrating holidays, visiting the bank and post office, travelling, shopping, and making cultural comparisons.

Students who successfully complete the course should be able to:

  • Learning outcomes for this paper include the following:-

    You will expand your Chinese vocabulary across the duration of this paper, and you will also be introduced to more advanced grammatical constructions, including new tense markers and different types of complements.

    By the end of the paper, you will have more confidence expressing yourself in both written and spoken Chinese across a variety of social situations, such as shopping, exchanging money at the bank, and borrowing books from the library.
