This paper is a continuation of CHINE232. This is a third-year Chinese language paper designed for students who have taken the paper CHINE232 or its equivalent. It takes an integrated approach involving all four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

本课程是二年级汉语课的继续,选修该课程必须具有相当于大学中文专业二年级的汉语水平。本课程旨在全面提高学习者的听、说、读、写能力。

This paper will be offered in FLEXI mode, which means that students have the option of attending classes face to face or by Zoom. However, as it is a language paper, we always recommend that you attend in person to get the most out of your class.

The teaching structure of this paper is based on lesson units 24-29 in the New Practical Chinese Reader textbook 2 and 3. Each unit introduces Chinese characters, sentence patterns, grammar points and pragmatics in conversations.

This paper is worth 15 points, which equals 150 learning hours. Students should attend all lectures, and also spend up to 10 hours per week familiarising themselves with new vocabulary and grammatical constructions, completing assignments, and preparing for tests.
