This paper is an introduction to the creation of web content through understanding the core technologies of the web. Web design concepts will be introduced for the effective use of text, images and sounds. Students will be introduced to relevant computing concepts through practical exercises which lead to a final project.

There is 1 lecture and 3 hours of labs a week. During every second Tuesday lab there will be a short Project Critique Session.

Manuals of course notes are provided as PDFs available in Moodle. The course notes are by no means comprehensive. You are expected to find any additional relevant material (e.g. online help, examples from the Internet, reference books) yourself. PDFs and screencasts of additional material will be available in Moodle.

Students should be checking Moodle on a regular basis (at least twice a week). Announcements will be made weekly, lecture notes posted, and materials made available via the COMPX161 Moodle page. Students are expected to check their email regularly. Student queries can be posted via the Moodle forums.
