There is one lecture hour per week during 2023 A and B trimesters, which all students are expected to attend (although there are some weeks indicated where there is no class scheduled). Students should also arrange to meet with their supervisor at least once per week. A total of 450 hours work is expected for this paper, with the remaining time each week a mix of reading, planning, computer work and documentation, and writing for the interim report, and the dissertation.

Class attendance is expected. The course notes provided are not comprehensive, and additional material will be covered in class. You are responsible for all material covered in class.

How you will be assessed

Edit How you will be assessed Content

Assessment is measured on the work carried out on the project, as viewed through the dissertation, although some acknowledgement will also be made of any artefacts (implementations or other) produced as part of the project activity. Success is weighed against difficulty.

As part of the Assessment process, the Department may request a demonstration of any application or artefact produced as part of the project. Similarly, the Department may request an inspection of any relevant data or source code. To support the reproducibility of research results, students are encouraged to submit relevant data and source code alongside their dissertation submission.
