Paper Description
Paper Structure
The paper has only two lectures over the semester. The first lecture in on Monday of the first week (week 1) to explain the structure of the paper. The second lecture is on the Monday after the teaching recess (week 8). It will be used to check on students' progress and answer questions about the paper.
The Reasoning component of the paper will occur over weeks 1 to 12. There will be online materials, and fortnightly tutorials that must be attended. Four assignments will be set and the students will be required to give a presentation.
The Academic Integrity component of the paper will occur in weeks 6 and 7 and will involve online materials and an online quiz.
Students must choose 1 of 3 possible subject areas; Computer Science, Design or Mathematics and Statistics. These subject areas will be taught over weeks 1-5 and weeks 8-12. Online material will be supplied and assessment will be via regular online quizzes.

Assessment
The paper is divided into 3 assessment components.
The Reasoning component is worth 50% of the assessment. It consists or 4 assignments, an oral presentation and tutorial attendance. The grading is; Assignment 1 (5%), Assignment 2 (5%), Assignment 3 (10%), Assignment 4 (10%), Oral Presentation 7.5%, Lesson 5% and Tutorial Attendance 7.5%. The Reasoning component will take place over the 12 weeks of the paper.
The Academic Integrity component is worth 10% of the Assessment. It will take place in weeks 6 and 7. It will consist of online materials and a weekly online quiz. Each quiz is worth 5%.
The Computer Science component is worth 40% and will take place in weeks 1-5 and weeks 8-12. There will be 10 online quizzes each worth 4%.
The Design component is worth 40% and will take place in weeks 1-5 and weeks 8-12. There will be 10 online quizzes each worth 4%.
The Maths and Stats component is worth 40% and will take place in weeks 1-5 and weeks 8-12. There will be 5 online quizzes for 28% and an assignment for 12%.
Students must choose either the Computer Science component , or the Design component , or the Maths and Stats component . A student may undertake coursework and complete assignments for multiple components, however their final grade will be the highest total in any 1 component.
Assessment Components
The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 100:0. There is no final exam.
