Paper Description
Paper Structure
DIGIB101 offers a variety of learning experiences and assessments. Five discussion assessments allow students the opportunity to comment on major questions that arise from the lecture topics. Significant hands-on learning happens in small practical assignments taught in online Zoom tutorial sessions and applied in an end-of-trimester group project.
Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the paper should be able to:
Assessment
Weekly Activities (x5)
Computer Practicals (x5)
The technical content of the paper will be introduced through practical laboratory sessions involving hands-on computer work. The objective of the practicals is for you to attain a basic level of competency in designing and building websites, as well as learning about apps, social media analytics, and so forth. There are 5 computer practicals. Each practical will involve pre-practical reading and planning, along with practical activities and the completion of the practical hand-in sheet. You should expect to spend up to four hours on each practice. If you have any questions concerning the practicals, email the tutors. Details about the practicals are available in Moodle. These are worth 30%.
Online Test
To test your knowledge and understanding of the topics discussed in class, there is one online test included in the paper. The test is designed to test your understanding, not memory. The content is based on lecture material (slides, articles, and case studies). It includes multiple-choice and short essay questions.
Group Project
This group project requires you to come up with an innovative digital business idea driven by cutting-edge and emerging technologies (such as blockchain, IoT, robotics, autonomous machines, and big data analytics). These technologies will be discussed throughout our lectures. You are also required to showcase your business idea through a website, an app, SEO, analytics, and create a cybersecurity plan for it. This assignment allows the student to apply both theory and practice to a real-life situation. Details and sample projects are available on Moodle.
All assignments are assessed for plagiarism using Turnitin.
Assessment Components
The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 100:0. There is no final exam.
