Class attendance and active participation are expected. The course notes provided are not comprehensive, additional material will be covered in class. Students are responsible for all content covered in class.
Students are expected to devote much time to practical work. Just turning in the first attempt at each practical is not acceptable. Students should experiment with the concepts discussed in class to gain a full understanding of the delivered material.
Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the paper should be able to:
Assessment
Design 1 - Development phases
Students will undertake a series of phases which are representative of the design process. They will use these phases to work toward a completed product that is suitable for large scale manufacture. Throughout this process they will be expected to critique their own work and that of their peers.
Design 1 - Presentation
Students will utilise work from the previous phases to create a summary presentation which is suitable for a range of stakeholders. It will demonstrate key decisions in the context of the project whilst utilising applicable visualisation and presentation techniques. It is expected that additional work is undertaken to ensure a high quality proposal is presented.
