The paper focuses on empowering students to become “business savvy” and prepared for industrial placements. Building on systems thinking, problem solving and team working skills from the first year Engineering in Society paper, the paper extends students using lectures in conjunction with Project Based Learning (PBL) workshops solving real industry problems concluding with a "Dragons Den" style business pitch. Topics covered include Team Formation, Design Thinking, Lean Canvas, Project Management, Agile, Risk Management & Project Finances. In readiness for industrial placements the paper runs a parallel stream covering professional ethics, CV preparation, interview techniques, job seeking skills, online profile, workplace and business culture.

Students attend 3 lectures, 1 workshop, and 1 tutorial class each week. All start in the first week of semester.

Note that the workshop sessions form a very important part of the learning of the paper.
