ENGME585 with ENGME586 are interdisciplinary modular courses and aim to develop in students an ability to use scientific, managerial and personal skills to generate competitive advantage in industry through technological innovations facilitated by application of the existing and new knowledge derived from scientific research to solving problems and meeting needs. ENGME585 will be mainly concerned with the innovation process and ENGME586 will be mainly concerned with commercial and industrial aspects of innovation but both courses will share common themes.

The course will include a consideration of the process of technological innovation in industry explored by readings, assignments and discussion sessions. It is designed to be interactive and will draw upon students' experiences derived from industrial placements and/or involvement with a technologically oriented research programme.

Presentation will be by lectures, discussions, directed reading, analysis of case studies and student seminars.

International Students

For international students in New Zealand under student visas, regular attendance is part of your visa obligation and is checked as a requirement on the University under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, to which the University is a signatory.
