Paper Description

Edit Paper Description Content
In this paper, you will develop self-awareness and refine your interpersonal and intercultural communication skills. You will familiarise yourself with both the theory and practice of professional communication in your everyday life contexts, specifically in organisational, business, and workplace settings. You will get an opportunity to practise your speaking and listening skills by participating and leading class discussions, collaborating with your peers, negotiating, and preparing a presentation on a topic. Apart from communicating effectively in person, the quality and strength of your written communication plays a crucial role. In this paper, you will learn how to evaluate and improve your own business writing.

Paper Structure

Edit Paper Structure Content

This paper leverages an active learning philosophy. This means that a lot of your learning depends on your engagement with the materials, your lecturer, and your peers. You will prepare for sessions by reading/watching/absorbing prescribed articles, case studies, videos, TED talks, and other resources, and thinking about the issues raised in them. Each three-hour session will be a blend of lecturing, workshop activities, discussions, and more. It is expected that every student will prepare for every session ahead of time and engage productively in activities and discussions in the session. Engagement doesn’t mean that you have to be loud or take the spotlight, but it does mean that you have to pay attention and participate in your own way.

FLEXI format

This is a FLEXI Synchronous class. FLEXI is a term used to describe a paper that will have learning available both face-to-face (on campus) and online, offering you flexibility as to where and how you learn. Synchronous means you are expected to attend and participate in the weekly lecture regardless of whether you attend in person or online. A zoom link to join sessions virtually will be made available on our Moodle page.

All supportive online resources will be accessible via Moodle in preparation for each session.
