This paper deals with research in the area of investments and portfolio management. The core material covers asset pricing theories, asset return predictability, behaviour finance, international investments, and fund management. Special features of the paper include applications of basic econometrics, presentations of academic papers, in-class discussions, asking and answering pop-up questions, and a research proposal in the area.

This paper will be taught through student-led seminars. It is a Flexi paper with all contents available online. The face-to-face lecture room is shown below. Face-to-face lectures may be cancelled if attendance is low or the number of Covid cases is high. Lecture notes, recordings, announcements and other paper materials are provided through Moodle.

Workload

The course has up to 33 contact hours depending on the number of enrollments. The rest of the 300-hour expected workload in this paper can be distributed as follows (actual distribution depends on individual preference): 100 hours for readings and summaries; 70 hours for preparation of seminar preparation; 20 hours to preparing comments and questions for other students' seminars; the remaining hours for the research proposal.
