Strategic Human resource Management is the last compulsory paper in the Human resource Management major. It is an integrative paper which brings together key knowledge and skills from the other HR papers. However, the focus is macro, and teaches students how HR practices can be combined to influence human capital and/or employee behaviour to improve an organisation's performance and implement its strategy.

You will attend two 1.5 hour lectures each week. In the second half of the semester, practitioners from various industries will join the class as guest lecturers.The first session will be a lecture-based introduction to a SHRM topic. The second session will provide opportunity for application of newly acquired knowledge and will be student led through panel discussions, presentations, and Moodle submitted activities (counting towards your individual participation grade).

The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 60:40. There is no final exam. The final exam makes up 40% of the overall mark.
