Paper Description
Paper Structure
This course is taught online using the Moodle platform.
When you are logged into the University of Waikato website, you can click on the Moodle icon, and then the code for this paper: LLTED523-21B(NET).
In the first six weeks of the paper we will be covering several topics of current interest in the field of children's literature. We will start with an introduction to the field, and then focus on a trio of current readings each week on the following topics: Theory of Mind, Gender Issues, Languages, Immigration, and indigeneity. We will also explore children's literature awards from around the world and expand our knowledge of international award winning children's literature. Thrice weekly online postings will contribute to a grade for Assignment 1.
In the second six weeks you will choose a focus within one of the topics introduced in the first half of the paper, and each week share summaries of two recent journal articles on this topic with your classmates. In this way you will build up your literature review for Assignment 3 of the paper.
