What this paper is about
This paper explores some of the conceptual understandings of Māori and Pacific health and wellbeing, providing a critical examination of the impact of colonisation and the social determinants of health on these communities. It also explores the relationship between traditional whenua-based practices and their relevance to modern society. Upon completion, students will be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the various factors that shape the health and wellbeing of Māori and Pacific peoples.
How this paper will be taught
1x 2hr Lecture per week
1x 1hr Tutorial per week - except the Field Trip week (27 - 31 March) and the week after mid-semester break (24 - 28 April)
1x full day Field Trip (choose one of Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th or Thursday 30th March)
