Paper Description
This paper provides students with the skills and knowledge to become competent and confident in culturally diverse contexts.
The paper focuses on behaviour at the individual, group, intergroup and organisation level with particular emphasis on the management of behavioural outcomes.
This paper examines basic concepts of intercultural competency where consideration is given to individual and cross cultural values and practice in the organisational context. Through lectures, participative activities, case studies and assessments, students develop an understanding of concepts such as cultural understanding and awareness, perceptions, teams, diversity, and leadership. This will enable students to become competent in communicating and collaborating effectively in culturally diverse environments, developing them to become effective leaders in local and global organisations.
An overall aim of this paper is to provide students with a basic understanding of important intercultural perspectives which they can apply in their management career.Paper Structure
For this paper, we have made our lectures available for you to view online at a time and place that is convenient for you. These online lectures curate important information so you can fulfill the requirements of Intercultural Perspectives. In this paper, you watch our online 'webinars' prior to a short lecture class and your case studies. In the lecture, we will re-enforce what you have learnt through examples. The case studies are designed to cover the learning that has been introduced in the online webinars. Therefore, it is very important you view the webinars before engaging meaningfully in the case studies.
The structure of this paper means less passive learning in class, better use of your time, and more active, collaborative learning. Assessments are solely individual assignments, with a stronger emphasis on case analysis.
