University Big band: Wednesdays 6pm - 7.30pm, in Play House

University Chamber Orchestra: Thursdays 3.30pm - 5pm in the Concert Chamber (NB. Orchestra rehearsals will not take place weekly, but in the weeks leading up to the performance. Some weekend work required)

How you will be assessed

Edit How you will be assessed Content

Attendance at rehearsals is crucial for students to receive a good grade. As the weekly sessions culminate in public performances, it is most important that all members of the ensemble are familiar with the works to be performed, and can contribute to the success of the performance. The final grade will be a culmination of attendance record and the advance on skill levels in the rehearsals and concert,

During the preparation for, and following each of the concerts, a short, individual progress assessment will be given on the material being prepared. Failure to attend a concert, without prior notice of an appropriate reason for absence, will result in a fail grade for that part of the course.

Also during the preparation of choir concerts, some students in MUSIC327 will be given the opportunity to lead/conduct the ensemble for a movement. This will be included in progress assessments grades as appropriate.
