Paper Description
The paper employs a case-based approach to apply the learnings from the other project management papers (PRMGT300, PRMGT301 & PRMGT302) and explore their relevance to real-world projects. Students will have the opportunity to explore projects of their choice, including projects they have been personally involved in. From this, students will gain an appreciation of typical project challenges and success factors.
The case-based approach will also allow students to research and deconstruct a well-known, multi-faceted project, to uncover causes of success and failure. To account for any students taking the capstone paper at the same time as the other papers in the graduate certificate, assessment due dates are largely weighted towards the second half of the trimester - however given that all assessment is provided at the start of the trimester, you are welcome to submit your assessment early if you wish.
In this trimester, the project under investigation is the Queensland Health payroll project failure. Students will explore this, in detail, from a project management perspective, identifying key principles and concepts from PRMGT300, PRMGT301 & PRMGT302. Students are given an option for one piece of assessment; they can either complete an online quiz, or can choose to sit (at their own cost) the Certified Associate of Project Management Exam.
Paper Structure
Aside from the assessment deadlines, this paper is self-paced, and students will need to manage their time appropriately to complete the assessment on time.
