This paper provides opportunities for students to develop critical knowledge and understanding of the teacher’s professional role and to apply pedagogical practices in key teaching tasks.

The paper will be taught through fortnightly tutorials as well as the Professional Experience setting. Students will be in ECE settings for Professional Experience Early Childhood (PEECE) placement days on the following dates:

  • Weekly on Thursdays except for the university recesses
  • A three week block professional experience: 18 October- 5 November 2021

Moodle will be used to provide general announcements and updates regarding professional experience.

Students who successfully complete the paper should be able to:

In order to meet the requirements of TEPRO100, students will need to submit ALL required documentation.

This includes a collection of evidence garnered from the following sources: an e-portfolio including progress made towards Key Teaching Tasks (KTTs) and Professional Experience documentation that demonstrates a satisfactory level of teaching practice based on Our Code, Our Standards and the Key Teaching Tasks. The Professional Experience documentation will include both Mentor teacher and Evaluative lecturer reports which demonstrate a satisfactory level of teaching practice.

The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 100:0. There is no final exam. The final exam makes up 0% of the overall mark.

  • Students will attend all Professional Experiences in an ECE settings as per the TEPRO100 handbook. Times can vary between Mentor Teachers and ECE settings (recommended 7.5-8 hours per day)

  • Students will attend face to face tutorials fortnightly (up to two hours per session). There may be preparation expected before tutorials (for example, writing up reflections and tasks from PEECE attendance.
